I have attempted numerous time to burn the image to the disk. I use Lightscribe Template Labeler and it shows it going through the process of burning but when it finished all I have a faint swirled image on the disk. I've updated both the software for the template labeler and for the lighscribe burner. I still get the same thing.  Please help!!

I have the exact same problem...but I don't even get a smudge.  Mine just comes out blank...just as I put in!  Any tips?

I was wondering if either of you ever received an answer to this problem?  I have no problem burning using the Simple Labeler, but get the same thing happening as LadyD with the Template Labeler.

I am new to this, so am wondering what to do...

Hi Folks!

Make sure you have the most

Current Versions:

  • LightScribe Software 1.18.2.1
  • Diagnostic Utility       1.18.2.1
  • Template Labeler      1.17.90.1
  • Simple Labeler          1.17.90.1

I haven't used the Labeller in a long time.  Today all I get are spirals.  Downloaded latest software (Diagnostics; LSS; simple labeler)

Diagnostics says that all is well.  Website for drive is USELESS, can't determine latest firmware rev.  (I know that I had to update when I purchased the drive over a year ago)  So NERO (used to work) doesn't work and neither does the simple labeler...  Any other thoughts?

Hi dan !

I'm a little confused, you talk about a Labeler, but are you on a Mac or PC?

Also, did you make other changes before you tried to burn again?

I know on the PC you need .NET V2.0 SP1 or greater (.NET is at V3.5 SP1).

It also helps to get the most current version of the C++ Runtime Library.

Also, the Firmware matters a great deal, doesn't the manufacturer's website provide a way of contacting their support?

Anti-virus programs can recommend program modules that "need to be removed", but if it's an important part of a program all sorts of strange things can happen if you follow their recommendation and not tell them to "Trust" such modules.  You really have to get to know your programs and what they need.

I have a question about the C++ Runtime Library.  I checked MS downloads and there is one called C++ 2005 (SP1).  I have C++ 2005.  It states that you only need the SP1 if you don't already have C++ 2005 installed.  Will it hurt to download the SP1 version?  Also, I'm sure I saw a 2008 version too.  Which one is the correct one to download?

I too am having problems with labels not burning.  One burns okay and then the next one comes out blank.  I'm using LS Template Labeler.  It seems to be a "hit and miss" thing trying to get these labels done.

Hi kimlizzy !

It can't really hurt to try the oldest version first and see if problems go away.  It would still be good to get to the newest version, but you could do them one at a time; create a restore point and try the next version up and see if the problem has still gone.

My experience has been that labels coming out "blank" is most often a problem with how clean the label side is, especially the Hub.  The Hub contains marks used for Detection, Positioning and Timing.  I had one disk that I didn't give up on.  It took 3 cleaning with 20 turns of the cleaner, but eventually it was labeled.

I use The LS Template Labeler exclusively to do labels.  For data, I use Nero 8 or the Vista built-in burning.  I have 2 drives, one in my notebook and one in my printer.  The labels get done on the printer and the data gets done on the notebook.

I've developed over 80 Custom Templates and us them exclusively.

Just thought I'd let you know I seem to have solved the problems I was having with labels not printing.  My Pioneer dvd burner is plug and play and didn't come with brand specific drivers.  I found model specific drivers at the Pioneer site and installed them.

Next I downloaded a "clean up tool" from Nero.  It scans for any files left over after uninstalling previous or trial versions of Nero.  I had uninstalled the version 9 trial but the tool found left over files and removed them, leaving the OEM of version 8 that came with the burner intact.

Since installing the drivers and cleaning up Nero, all labels print perfectly every time.

I hope this information might be helpful for others who are having the same problems as I was.

Hey,

I made sure. I've got everything latest, as per yesterday. The problem is still there: template laberer will not print image, but will print simple text. I also noticed this to be issue only with the media version 1.2. Old media versions are just fine...
It's just that I'm stuck with 50dvd's of 1.2's...

Just an answer to myself and to whoever has the same problem:
Uninstall everything (LS related), restart, update firmware of your DVD burner, restart, install latest LS, restart. Used low res image to test and it is working, even with media version 1.2.
Note: XP
Good luck

Hi Reggie !

If you haven't found it and still need it the link to the Nero 9 Cleanup is:

Hi frustrated !

Usually, a missing or inaccessible entry point would indicate something wrong with an installation.

Have you tried uninstalling all the software; restarting the computer; and then re-installing everything?

That might make the error go away.

Hello again frustrated !

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 and I did a quick search of the system and could NOT find QtCore4.dll at all?!?!?

You've got a strange one!!!!!

I don't know what it could be for!?!?!

If reinstalling all the software doesn't put it there, I don't know where it comes from or why its needed!!!!!

I am *so* frustrated!!  I have the lightscribe discs.  I have the software and the hardware.  They are all installed according to instructions.  The software appears to work, I add text and pictures and when I try to preview and print I keep getting the same annoying message that the file isn't saved.  I try saving it, and the same thing happens!  This is ridiculous!  Its a gigantic waste of my time.  Why won't this work?  Can someone tell me what's wrong?  I just want to burn my kid's picture into the disc.  Why does this have to be so hard??!!???

Hi !

I assume from what you wrote, you have .NET V2.0 or better and the latest C++ Run-time Library.

Is it just the print function, or are other thing returning errors?

Check the size of your Image, that sometimes has caused errors others have reported.

What template are you using?  I have developed Custom Templates and have found some errors in some of the templates I've started with.  Try a different template.

Also, try the Diagnostic Utility, if you haven't tried it already.

Try the LS Simple Labeler, it works differently than the LS Template Labeler.

If you have a trial of another labeler, try it to see if it has trouble.

You may be missing a software module.

I am having the same problem as ladyd.  Nothing is showing up on the label side of the lightscribe disc.  Is there a way to make the labeling darker beside 'B' for bold?

Hi K-rae !

I have the same problem occasionally with the media I can find most often (Memorex).

I've said this before, on this thread and others.

When a disk gives me any kind of problem burning a label, I clean the LABEL side.

I do this up to 3 times before giving up on the disk.

Usually this works after the first time.

My failure rate is less than 0.5% over all.  That's out of about 100 disks.

I've read all these posts and still don't understand.

Light scribe goes through the process and tells me it's working and the image was burned onto my cd succesfully. I take it out and nothing. It used to work on my old computer but hasn't since i got this one, nero won't work either. I'm not very good with computers. I don't know how to make it work. Can someone dummy up an answer for me, Help me?

Thank you.

Have an IMAC using snow leopard, Lacie d2 525 - lightscribe seems to "print" the whole disk i.e after 19 minutes of writing the #$*&^## comes out solidly darker than a new one??

It sounds like the same issue as this thread, if the label is completely solid the LaCie labeler needs to be updated.
