Hello.  It really irritates me to have to make this post and join your forum to get satisfaction on this simple issue.  I need to remove lightscribe from my computer.  It was installed by the previous owner and I have no use for it.  It opens and crashes every time I start the computer and it isn't on my Add/Remove programs list.  I have searched this site with "uninstall", "remove", "obliterate", and shouted several obsceneties which I am not permitted to repeat in this forum.  Nothing described how to uninstall and remove any garbage it has stuffed  in my registry.  I also cannot find anything in the help file that will allow me to remove it.

Please help!

Hi One-time Poster !

What you're talking about is basic computer maintenance.

The reason you can't find it in Add/Remove Program is probably because it has already been removed.  What you're probably clicking on is a Desktop Shortcut that can't find the program.  Chances are, you can probably delete the Shortcut.  To check, just right-click and select "Properties"; and then look at the target location.  You'll probably find the location is no longer there or that the program isn't there.  Then you can delete the Shortcut and maybe the folder, if it still exists.

It seems like you're going to have to learn some things you'll need about computer maintenance.

Hope what I wrote helps!  If not you can make another post so somebody can see you still need help!

I feel the same way as the original poster. The software came with my new PC (when I got it about 8 months ago)  and I do not want it. There is not a removal link in the add/remove section of my computer. I also looked for the uninstall.msi as discussed in tech support.
Please tell me how to remove the software.

Hi Guys !

As I said before, it is probably already removed.

My "Add/Remove" shows the "LightScribe System Software" in the list.

I really don't know what is going on?!?!?

I strongly believe that it still loaded in my PC. It loads every time I start my PC and an Icon by the clock shows it as running.

I really would like to remove this program from my PC. The web site stated that I need to look for the uninstall.msi file but even with a search of my PC, it can not be located.

Can I down load this file from some location on the company web page?

I don't know what to tell you, I don't find it on my PC either!!!!!

Only a piece of software from Nokia doesn't seem to want to be removed on my PC no matter what I try.

I know about standard Windows PC  maintenance and I can assure you Lightscribe (that came with my Samsung DVD writer) cannot be removed in the standard (configuration / uninstall) like most other applications. It comes with the NERO DVD writer software and nests itself on your PC and it is very difficult to remove. A bit like a virus. I think this has been done on purpose. It took me about an hour, and even had to search the registry. For this reason have now developed an real aversion against Lightscribe.

I too am trying to remove the lightscribe control panel and any drivers.  I installed this software this last Monday and now my MSRA VPN software crashes and bluescreens my laptop.  I'd like to remove the software and drivers to either confirm that they are the problem or not.

The issue is that there is no way to easily remove any of this software.  There is no uninstall, the products are not registered in the registry such that they can be removed easily like all the other software I use which behaves properly and actually registers in the windows registry.

Before any comments are made about my technical abilities I am an seasoned IT consultant and have been doing my own support for years.  I hate to think about manually going through the registry to clean this stuff out but I guess I'll have to do that or re-image my laptop.

Bottom line:  Is there a removal tool for the lightscribe software and drivers?

I DID NOT ask for lightscribe on my computer and DO NOT want this GARBAGE on my machine. I AM DISGUSTED at lightscribes invasion of my privacy and forceful ways of getting onto my computer by way of spyware or adware and I am going to SUE lightscribe for invasion of privacy. I HATE mongrel invasive companies like this, and hope they go bankrupt and all involved in the way they run this dodgey business fall into a huge vat of boiling oil and die slow painful deaths. I am uninstalling and if I hear from this MUTT of a company again, I will DEFINATELY be seeking legal advice and sending the mongrel owners so broke, that they will have to beg for food to feed their ratbag mutt children!!!! Now GET OFF MY MACHINE AND OUT OF MY LIFE!!!

Me too!  I have no idea how I got infected by the Lightscribe virus and am really annoyed that I have to register on this forum to find a way to get rid of it.

For those having problems removing Lightscribe software (because it doesn't show up in Add/Remove Programs) download Revouninstaller from here http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
It's a freeware uninstaller which DOES allow Lightscribe to show up and be removed.

N.B.  The Lightscribe System Software has to be installed for any Lightscribe printing software to work.  If all Lightscribe software is removed then your Lightscribe enabled burner will not work to etch your disks, it will, however, still function as a burner.
